Dr. Nahid Rashid, Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, joined to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on 29^th September, 2022. Before, joining to this ministry she worked as Director General (Secretary) from 18^th August, 2021 in the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board. Dr. Rashid is a vastly accomplished and professional civil servant with more than 28 years of experience in the administration. Having a diverse administrative broad-based knowledge and experience, she joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) in 1991. Before her promotion to Secretary last year (2021), she discharged her duty as Additional Secretary in Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance.

Before that she worked as a diplomat (Commercial Counsellor) in Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi for more than five years period while she was engaged in trade diplomacy contributed to the promotion of bilateral trade between Bangladesh and India to the resolution of trade issues and the marketing of Bangladesh as a location for foreign investments, R&D activities and tourist destination.

Dr. Rashid has managed a wide range of economic policy, humanitarian and climate change issues across assignments in various ministries, at the local government level, as well as at regional and International levels. During her long career period, she achieved practical experience and efficiency in project implementation and development administration through collaboration and among public representatives, government and non-government organizations.

She started her career at the Ministry of Home Affairs as Assistant Secretary in 1992.  She also worked in the field administration as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dhaka and Mymensingh. Besides, she worked in Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC), the apex training institute of the Government. Dr. Rashid served in various capacities in different ministries of the Government including Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Prime Minister’s Office and also served on lien in UNDP.

In her academic attainments, she realized her Ph.D. in Management from Monash University, Australia, Master of Business Administration from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands, Masters in Public Sector Management from Australia in addition to having Honors and Masters from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
